St. Mary Our Mother is blessed with many musically gifted parishioners who share their talents as choir members, cantors, and instrumentalists. Special choirs include the Adult Choir, the Children’s Choir, the Youth choir, and the Resurrection Choir.
Adult Choir
The Adult Choir is open to all adults in and students in high school. This choir sings at the 10:30 Sunday Masses each Sunday from September through mid-June. In addition, it participates in Lessons and Carols during Advent; Christmas Eve Midnight Mass; Holy Week and Easter liturgies; and other special services, such as Advent and Lenten Penance Services.
Youth Choir
The Youth Choir is made up of students from Grades 7-12. They sing at the 5 PM Mass on Saturdays and also at special Holy Day liturgies. At times, they will combine with our children’s and/or adult choirs. Rehearsals are held on Sundays and Tuesdays at 5 pm during the school year.
Children’s Choir
This choir is open to all parish members in grades 2 through 8. It sings at the 8:30 Mass on the first Sunday of each month from October through June. In addition, they sing for the Lessons and Carols Advent Service; the 4:00 PM Christmas Eve Family Mass; and the Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Easter Sunday liturgies. Rehearsals are held on Thursdays from 2:45–3:45 pm during the school year.
Resurrection Choir
This choir of adults provides music for all Funeral Mass liturgies.
Cantors
These individuals share their talent by leading the hymns and the responsorial psalm at Sunday and Holy day liturgies. They practice directly with the Music Director and are scheduled for liturgies on an individual basis.
Instrumentalists
Students and adults proficient in a variety of instruments can utilize their talents as instrumentalists to enhance the music at Sunday or Holy Day liturgies. They work directly with the music director and are scheduled for liturgies on an individual basis.
